Exercise

Our bodies are more prepared for the world of physical stress of our ancestors where the threats were neighboring tribes and hunting buffalo yet today’s stresses are more mental so our bodies are being worked up for these physical fights or flights and we are not using it and the energy from stress stays within us. For this reason, exercise is important to reduce stress.

Exercise will counteract all the effects that stress has on the body. It helps build a stronger, healthier heart, help lose weight, and moderate exercise will increase the immune system (but extreme exercise will lower it). For up to a day after exercising, the endorphins from it will boost your mood and relieve you from the anxiety and the depression that stress can induce.

Exercise also creates a mentally relaxing state where your brain makes more alpha waves, which is characteristic of a relaxed mind. The rhythmic movements calm your brain and help with stress. So make sure to exercise at minimum four to five times a week, and try not to do the same thing every week. Take a brisk walk one day and swim the next. The changes will help your body not adjust and adapt so it has the same effects.
